Effective July 1, 2013, Chapter 2013-048, Laws of Florida, transferred the responsibility to collect the county share of costs for Medicaid recipients from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to the Florida Department of Revenue. Although the State is responsible for the full portion of the State share of the matching funds required for the Medicaid program, the state is required to charge the counties an annual contribution in order to acquire a certain portion of these funds.
These funds are due to the Department of Revenue by the 5th day of each month. If the county fails to remit the payment, the Department will reduce the monthly distribution to the county pursuant to Section 218.61, Florida Statutes, (Half-Cent); and if necessary, the distribution to the county pursuant to Section 218.26, Florida Statutes, (Revenue Sharing).
