TALLAHASSEE - One of the Florida Department of Revenue's Service Centers has relocated from Port St. Lucie to 337 N. U.S. Highway 1 in Fort Pierce, the Department of Revenue (DOR) announced Friday.
The office that has relocated is the DOR General Tax Administration (GTA) Program Service Center. GTA is the program within DOR that is responsible for administering most state taxes.
DOR chose to relocate its Service Center to 337 N. U.S. Highway 1 because Department managers were concerned about mold problems at its former location in Port St. Lucie. The Department's lease expired at the time, so DOR managers took the opportunity to move to the new site. Another DOR Service Center currently located in Port St. Lucie also will be relocated by early October. This Service Center is responsible for handling child-support enforcement issues. No employees in either Service Center will be laid off as a result of the move.
The new DOR offices are located in Suite 207 in the Florida state office complex in the Benton Building in Fort Pierce, where other state agencies also are located. So far, only the Department's General Tax Administration (GTA) office has been relocated, but DOR also plans to relocate its Child Support Enforcement Service Center to the new site. GTA Employees moved into the new site earlier this week and now are offering service on issues regarding DOR-administered taxes.
Callers wishing to contact the General Tax Administration Service Center should call 772-429-2900. For now, the Department has arranged for telephone calls to the old Port St. Lucie telephone number, 772-871-7620, to be forwarded to the new office for the public's convenience. The Service Center will be open from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Eastern Time weekdays to help the public with issues regarding Florida sales, communications services, intangible, corporate income, and other taxes administered by DOR.
If you have questions about Florida tax law but don't have time to visit the Service Center, please call 1-800-352-3671 or visit the DOR Internet site at www.myflorida.com/dor.
