TALLAHASSEE - Florida taxpayers in six counties will see changes in county sales tax rates in January 2005. Businesses in affected counties should begin to prepare now to implement the new tax rates in January, the Florida Department of Revenue (DOR) said today.
Five counties will see increases in county sales tax rates ranging from 0.25 percent to 1 percent: Alachua, Hernando, Palm Beach, Pasco, and Polk Counties. In Marion County, county sales tax rates will drop from 1 percent to .5 percent. By state law, county sales tax rates can change once a year, on Jan. 1.
