2012 Value Adjustment Board Training
2012 Value Adjustment Board Training
Prior to conducting any 2012 VAB hearings, this training is required for all special magistrates and all VAB members or VAB attorneys in
counties with a population of 75,000 or less that do NOT use special magistrates. Individuals who are otherwise qualified and have at least
three years, but less than five years, of relevant experience and who want to be considered for appointment as a special magistrate must complete
this training and the exam.

The Department of Revenue has produced an online orientation video for Florida value adjustment board members. This brief video provides an overview of Florida’s property tax system and
describes the roles and responsibilities of board members, board attorneys, board clerks, and special magistrates. This video was designed for orientation purposes only and is not a
replacement for the Department’s value adjustment board training specified in s. 194.035(3), F.S.

Designation Program Information:
Use of Department Designations
The designations, Certified Florida Appraiser, Certified Florida Evaluator and Certified Cadastralist of Florida are contingent upon employment with a
Florida property appraiser office or the Florida Department of Revenue. The designations, Certified Florida Collector and Certified Florida Collector
Assistant are contingent upon employment with a Florida tax collector office or the Florida Department of Revenue.
In the event that the employment of a designee holder is terminated for any reason, the individual shall refrain from using or displaying the designation(s) CFA, CFE, CCF, CFC, or CFCA.

Course Cancellation and Refund Policy
The following course cancellation policy will be in effect beginning January 1, 2009. In order to qualify for a refund, course cancellations must be called or e-mailed in to the Property Tax Oversight Training Team by the last business day prior to the course start date.
Course refunds will be granted upon request. To apply for a refund, submit a completed Refund Request, and a copy of the canceled check (front & back) to:

Refunds cannot be processed without a copy (front and back) of your canceled check. Facsimile requests are not accepted because an original signature is required. Credit will not be issued instead of a refund.
