TIP # 04A19-02
ELECTRONIC FILERS WILL NO LONGER RECEIVE COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES TAX RETURNS (FORM DR-700016)
Beginning with the April 2004 reporting period, a Communications Services Tax Return (Form DR-700016) will no longer be mailed each month to taxpayers who file electronically. This includes taxpayers who are obligated to file electronically because of threshold requirements, and taxpayers who are voluntarily filing electronically. Filing electronically means using the Internet filing application or EDI (electronic data interchange) to send return data.
Taxpayers who are obligated to file electronically but have not yet enrolled should do so immediately. To enroll, go to the Department's website at www.myflorida.com/dor and complete an online Enrollment/Authorization form for e-Services. Under Florida law the Department is authorized to disallow the collection allowance when a taxpayer is obligated to file electronically but files a paper return instead.
You will still be notified of local communications services tax rate changes through TIPs mailed to you. Also, local tax rates are available on the Department's website (click on "Taxes" and "Communications Services Tax").
When filing electronically, please print or keep a copy of your return, but do not send a paper or "hard" copy of a return to the Department.
